Manchester united fans fund plane with hatred banner to fly over Old Trafford during their game against Spurs

Manchester United's Vice Chairman Ed Woodward.

After a 3-2 defeat at Brighton, things are pretty tight at Manchester. Jose Mourinho has been criticised a lot, but now it seems the hatred from the fans is eyed towards the club’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward.

According to the fans, Woodward hasn’t backed Mourinho properly during the summer. With Fred being the only high profile transfer that the club has made the claims seems to be valid. The club which is in desperate need of a Centre back and a right winger has made no progress on the various players that they were linked with.

Even Mourinho seemed frustrated with the team that was made available to him. He showed his frustration with the club’s directors several times during the press conferences.

And just after two matches after the start of a new Premier League, they plan a protest against the club’s managing committee, especially at Ed Woodward.

After Arsenal, United fans are planning to fly a banner over Old Trafford during their game on Monday against Tottenham Hotspur.

According to The Sun, the banner will read “Ed Out – LUHG”. The initials are Love United Hate Glazer.

Last time they had flown a banner over Old Trafford was in 2014 during a match against Aston Villa. It read “Wrong One – Moyes Out”. Though United won that match against Villa 4-1 the manager only lasted for further four games before being sacked.

The fans got their wish granted the last time, it doesn’t seem to be the case now. To be fair, Woodward has let Mourinho spend a net amount of £302million since he took over from Van Gaal.

Criticism against Woodward also came from the club’s former player Garry Neville on Monday Night Football.

With all this in mind, we cannot deny that the match against Spurs is a high profile must-win match for Mourinho. With team spirit being low and fans being outraged it seems “the special one” might be the next target of frustration for the fans. Most of the fans being uncomfortable with the type of defensive football strategy of Mourinho it seems if he cannot get right results his time at the Theatre of Dreams might be cut short before the season ends.

As for now, Woodward seems to be comfortable and as it stands he isn’t backing down just because of some fan protest.
